ROOTIN’ TOOTIN’ DEBUT FOR CASTLE SUMMER DINNER SHOW SERIES!!
Songs of the old west blended with the charm of the Midwest on Friday, June 6th as cowboys and cowgirls took the stage for the first of six summer dinner shows at the Castle @ 501 Prospect in Beloit, WI. The theme of the program was “Spaghetti Western Night” with pasta lovers enjoying a delicious home-style meal while being treated to a bonanza of western themed music, dance, comedy and video clips.
The entertainment was hosted by Sheriff Wiley Caballero and his band, the Tumbleweeds, featuring the sagebrush sirens, Gumdrop Darlynn and Marilu Jubilee. The band regaled the capacity crowd with sing-a-long favorites like “Home On the Range” and “Happy Trails” and added a couple of comedy routines that delighted one and all. Special guest appearances by Woody from Toy Story and guitar picker Waylon Galen rounded out the line-up with show-stopping performances.
The “chuck wagon” staff hit the bull’s eye with a scrumptious menu of fresh breads, salads and all-you-could-eat mountains of specially prepared spaghetti and a secret recipe sauce that you couldn’t get Camp Cookie Jody to reveal even if you held a six-shooter to her Stetson! And Miss Kitty had the Long Branch Saloon in full swing, pouring sizzlin’ shots and ice-cold beers for all the thirsty settlers.
Sheriff Wiley kept things lively with a series of trivia questions based on video clips of famous western films, including Rio Bravo, Shane, and the side-splitting “bean scene” from “Blazing Saddles.”
When the Tumbleweeds and their cast mates finished the final musical number of the evening, the Castle Theater erupted in a genuine and heartwarming standing ovation, causing Sheriff Wiley to exclaim, “What in tarnation….??”

The next show in the 2014 Castle summer series occurs on June 20th featuring the music of Simon and Garfunkel and a chicken dinner prepared with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Doors open at 6:30pm. Dinner and show begin at 7pm.
