Castle Conservatory for Music

Classes and lessons available to students ages 2 and up are taught by professional musicians from a variety of backgrounds. Classes and lessons are available in piano, guitar, bass, percussion, voice, trumpet and music education. Descriptions of our teachers are available below. All classes and students in private lessons will have the opportunity to partake in a performance at the end of each session at The Castle.

                   Virtual Lessons

NEWS

Fun with Puppets

Times are changing and so are the ways we provide music instruction at The Castle. During this time The Castle is offering virtual lessons through video chat software like FaceTime and Zoom to continue to keep students learning.

PRIVATE LESSONS

 

Music Classes are Non-refundable. Classes will be postponed to the following week when Beloit Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather or holidays.

Private Lessons

Lessons are set up by weekly appointment. Cost is $20/half hour.

 

PIANO

Depending upon the students' interests, students will have the choice to learn classical, jazz, rock n' roll, and/or popular music.

Students will have the opportunity to learn theory, technique,  improvisation, and composition.

 

GUITAR

Options for guitar include jazz, folk, rock, funk, and/or reggae. Students will learn chords, reading, improvisation, and composition. 

 

CONTEMPORARY SONG WRITING

Students will learn song-writing basics as well as playing technique, reading, and theory. 

 

PERCUSSION

Students will focus in on many different perucssive beats. They will learn anything from a shuffle to 50's rock n' roll. 

 

VOICE

Students can further their singing abilities whether they are looking for a career or enjoyment. 

 

GENERAL MUSIC

In these classes geared towards younger children, students will explore playing multiple types of instruments and learn the basic

rudiments of music.

TEACHING FACULTY

 

JOHNNY

 

WITTNEBEL

Johnny Wittnebel lives in the Beloit area. He is a graduate of UW Whitewater with a degree in history and psychology. Johnny has been teaching music for over 10 years. With a background in teaching, he hosts classes online to a school, P.A.M.I in the Philippians. He is currently active with music programs at the Boys and Girls Club. He is a member of two Beloit bands, in which he plays a variety of instruments, including piano, bass, trumpet, percussion, ukulele and accordion. He has played at large audiences, such as at Summerfest 2012. His primary instrument is the guitar. He has teaching experience with piano, bass, trumpet and percussion.

ADAM GASSER

Adam Gasser is Beloit native who has worked in the performing arts community for over 15 years. He has performed over 500 shows across the country with his band, Earth to Clark. Performing to over thousands of people. He is passionate about the Beloit community.  Adam is a husband, father, producer, multi-instrumentalist. event organizer, singer, mentor and much more. Adam brings a loving, professional and creative dynamic to The Castle team.

JAKE HANDRICH

Jake Handrich is a local talent from the Beloit area who bolstered his musical aspirations as a proud member of the award-winning 2014 Beloit Memorial High School’s Jazz Band. With experience playing various instruments such as piano, drums, and a number of other percussion instruments - as well as his experience in both jazz and classical stylings - Jake brings yet another level of depth to our group of Castle Conservatory teachers.

SARA LEMEN

Sara Lemen is a local singer and piano player with vast performance experience. She holds a degree in Music from The Chicago Conservatory at Roosevelt University as well as extensive studies in Vocal Pedagogy at Northeastern Illinois University. She has performed at the Kaz Bar at the House of Blues in Chicago and Rockford's Coronado Theater. Her styles include spiritual and sacred music, classical, pop, jazz, country, and musical theatre.
